The company was established in 2023 in Dubai, UAE. They are a joint venture between S Royal Kit Emirates Investment and Global Biopolymers Industries.
Emirates Biotech produces and markets PLA bioplastics across the Middle East, Africa, and India.
PLA is a biodegradable, bio-based polymer used in applications like packaging, food service, and 3D printing.
The company is developing what will be the world’s largest PLA production plant, a project named the “Falcon PLA Project”.

Raghav Tibrewala is a business leader and engineer actively driving India’s sustainable materials and biodegradable polymers sector. At Bhavya Polyfilms (Raghav Polymers Group), he heads both the Films Division, overseeing over 15,000 MT annually, and the Bio Division, where he has helped the company become one of India’s largest importers of PBAT and secure an exclusive dealership for PLA with Balram Chini Mills Ltd ( BCML ).
Raghav has a strong technical foundation, holding a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering (Product Design) from Stanford University and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras. He has also completed specialized training in Marketing and Product Strategy at UC Berkeley. During his academic journey, he worked on product design projects with Panasonic USA and Aerospace Corporation, conducted research in computational mechanics and fluid dynamics, and gained hands-on experience in prototyping, engineering validation, and design testing. He has contributed to research work at NASA US as well.
Raghav is currently working on establishing a compounding plant for bio-polymers backed by his Family’s experience of over 30 years in in this Industry.
Raghav leverages his education, research experience, and entrepreneurial insight to advance sustainable polymer solutions in India.

Varsha Sethuraman is a senior research associate at Lux Research, based in the Netherlands. She leads Lux’s coverage of biobased chemicals and materials. In this role, Varsha brings her deep technological knowledge in biotechnology to advise innovation leaders in chemicals, oil and gas, CPG, and other industries to identify transformative business models, capitalize on emerging opportunities, and navigate the complexities of adopting biobased solutions. Varsha has shared her thought leadership on the biobased chemicals industry in a presentation to decision-makers at the Lux Forum in Boston.
Prior to joining Lux, Varsha was a research scientist at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research, where she developed a semiquantitative tool based on multicriteria decision-making analysis to help choose potential sustainable treatment methods for future riverine plastic waste collectors. She also worked as a researcher for the Earth Love United Foundation, studying the role of mangroves in mitigating climate change. Varsha holds an M.Sc. in climate studies from Wageningen University & Research, where she specialized in environmental policy. She completed her B.E. in biotechnology engineering from B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore, India.
